Multiple Displays

For the Lightworks event we wanted to come up with a display made up of a number iMacs. Software to achieve this was Quartz Composer, Compressor, and Final Cut Pro.

Early tests show below

The original video here was 1080P split into three separate files. Footage was then loaded onto each machine and playback sync is achieved over the network.

Here is a more complex edit but using the same technique for playback. The original footage was one long line of five coloured squares and edited to the music.

For the next two years we used the same methods but increased to eight screens.

Making a 360 degree display was also researched, but proved problematic during the filming of the content. It was very difficult to maintain a constant movement of the camera while completing three revolutions.
This resulted the screens going out of sync during playback.
